The University of Florida Wood Collection contains approximately 15,700 accessioned wood samples, approximately 1,000 un-accessioned wood samples, and 1,000+ microscope slides (thin sections, typically transverse radial and tangential views). Woods from all parts of the world are included with an emphasis on those of the tropics. According to the information provided to the Secretariat, this collection is in the process of verifying with the corresponding wood block and those data are being catalogued; the project is more than halfway complete, having reached in the Rosaceae (alphabetically). Future goals for this collection include increasing online accessibility, correlating their holdings with collections at other institutions, and updating nomenclature and cross walking synonymy.
