Gonystylus is a light tropical hardwood tree genus, comprised by over 30 species. The hardwood of species of this genus is commonly known as ‘Ramin’. In addition to providing an overview of ramin specimens in trade and their regulation under CITES, it provides guidance on the use of different methods to identify specimens of Gonystylus in international trade.
