It is with great sadness that the CITES Secretariat announces the untimely passing of William Michael “Mike” Young, who served as Assistant Solicitor for the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) from 2002 until his retirement in 2017.
Mr Young provided legal counsel to the delegation of the United States of America participating in six meetings of the Conference of the Parties to CITES: CITES CoP8 (Kyoto, 1992), CITES CoP9 (Fort Lauderdale, 1994), CoP10 (Harare, 1997), CoP11 (Gigiri, 2000), CITES CoP12 (Santiago, 2002) and CITES CoP16 (Bangkok, 2013).
The CITES Secretariat extends heartfelt condolences to Mr Young’s family, friends and colleagues during this mournful time.
